How to Choose Blog Topics That Keep Bringing Traffic

Choosing article ideas is easy when a website is new because almost everything still needs to be written.

The more interesting stage begins later, when there is enough traffic and analytics to see which subjects people actually respond to.

That is when I expect my own content strategy to become much more data-driven.

Start With Related Subjects

I prefer keeping the articles connected to things I actually work with or understand.

For me, that includes author websites, publishing, advertising, SEO, ecommerce, intellectual property, books and Valentine Kingdom itself.

That gives the website variety without turning it into a collection of completely unrelated subjects simply because a keyword happens to have traffic.

Watch Which Topics Begin Moving

After enough articles exist, patterns should become easier to see.

Some may receive more Google impressions. Others may perform better on Pinterest. Certain subjects may keep people on the website longer or lead more visitors toward the book.

That information is much more useful than endlessly guessing which topic might work.

Expand What Proves Itself

Once something starts performing, I can create more useful articles around the same general subject.

That does not mean repeating the same article with slightly different titles. It means finding other real questions connected to something that already has proven demand.

That is how I expect the blog to develop over time.

Create enough variety to discover what works, then let the analytics decide where the volume should go next.
